Information or thriller?
We need information and we need the truth. This may lead to unnecessary worries because the early news might not be proven.
In the Internet age, we are victims. We are manipulated by journalists, outspoken scientists etc. I am not complaining their works. It is good to have information. But it is not good to have partial information.
The problem is not what the news is; it is the presentation that matters most.
Just saying that there are bird flu cases and the action taken to avoid any spreading is enough. Why they repeatedly said that there was a pandemic threat to the world? Who are responsible to deal with such cases? Not us, we cannot do anything except to suffer spiritually. Do they want us to fear everyday? In fact, a few hundred outbreaks in the world would not have use at higher risk than running over by a careless car driver.
Perhaps by saying something first would release their duties and would not be blamed when things really went wrong. That is the problem we face today, not the bird flu and any similar events.
I am watching such news carefully. Of course, there are worries that the bird flu virus mutated to air borne. But we must know that there remains a distance limitation, it will not be measured in miles. What I hope to know is how many hours or days that this virus can survive and what conditions would kill it. These are good information that remains empty today.
